D recently received two new skirts. The first one is a simple A-line style with a slightly curved hem and an elastic waist.

She loves how comfortable this skirt is and I think she's glad I made it a bit long and a bit full. It makes it easier for her play hard or curl up cozy with a good book.
D's second new skirt is not new at all; it's a wardrobe refashion.

Oh, why the furrowed brow, my lassie?
Is it because you're wearing white after Labor Day?

Sorry they're wrinkled; D pulled the skirts from her hamper so that I could get these two close-ups.

I sewed it from a lovely plaid flannel she purchased for herself during a sale at Jo-Ann's two years ago. I promised then to sew a skirt for her and it has taken me too, too long to fulfill my promise.

I bought this white linen skirt from a consignment shop a few years ago. Despite my personal rule to keep white off my lower regions, the skirt's lovely cut work along the hem won me over. After lingering in my closet unworn, I decided to turn it over to D. I had to alter it first though. It was originally ankle-length, with a drop yoke waist. To shorten it, I cut around the skirt just below the yoke, then added an elastic waist.

Two new skirts and I didn't have to take her shopping. Yay!

Very pretty! I'm so glad you posted this. Our fabric store has a huge selection of flannel in the cutest prints. I have been tempted to make dd a skirt from some, but wasn't sure how it would look.
